How Treat Your Repair Man When They Work In The Heat
Working during the summers without a cooling system is difficult, yet hvac contractors do it all day. When there are repairs needed to a cooling system or when a new cooling system there is likely to be no cooling sources available to keep the area as cool as it needs to be. If you have an hvac repair specialist coming to your home or business in a summer where there is no cooling system available, you should try to make the work area as comfortable for them as possible. Here are some ways to help your hvac person beat the heat.
Provide plenty of water
Whether your hvac personnel is working in the actual ventilation system or if they are outside checking on the system, they are likely to be hot. Provide plenty of bottles of cold water to your hvac repair person in order to help them cool down. Being able to take water along with them outside stops them from having to trek throughout the house and possibly dirty the carpet. For this reason, it is advisable to give them several bottles of water at one time to take with them on the job.
Let them know to take a break
Taking a break can stop anyone who is working in the heat from having heat-related health issues. Let your hvac repair specialist take a break after they are working for over an hour in the heat. Reminding them to take a break will allow them to assess how they are physically holding up in the heat and allow them the chance to call for help if they need it. Calling for help may get your cooling system installed and working faster than one person working alone.
Provide towels and bowl of water
One of the reasons that the body sweats is because it is attempting to regulate the temperature. Sweating aids the body in cooling down. You can help mimic this system by providing your hvac repair personnel with water and a basin of water. They can rub the water and towel on themselves to cool down as needed. Along with a small towel to rub on the body, provide several larger towels, especially if you have carpet. This will keep any perspiration and water from cooling down off of the floors. The hvac specialist can lay and step on the towels, as well as clean up their space after they are done with the cooling installation.
